Hi there, I cannot get to work one major feature of my wireless router: WLAN
I'm sure it worked before, but I'm not using it very often, so I cannot exactly tell when it broke.
I am also not sure if it has to do with X-Wrt, but please take a look.

Anyway, nvram contains:
Code:
wl0_net_mode=mixed
wl0_frameburst=on
wl0_akm=psk
wl0_wep_buf=
wl0_macmode1=disabled
wl0_infra=1
wl0_country_code=ALL
wl0_ap_ssid=
wl0_wme_sta_be=15 1023 3 0 0 off
wl0_ifname=eth1
wl0_wme_sta_bk=15 1023 7 0 0 off
wl0_mrate=0
wl0_mode=ap
wl0_ap_isolate=0
wl0_wme_no_ack=off
wl0_gmode=1
wl0_wep_last=
wl0_dtim=1
wl0_ssid=xxxx
wl0_key1=
wl0_key2=
wl0_key3=
wl0_key4=
wl0_wme_ap_vi=7 15 1 6016 3008 off
wl0_plcphdr=long
wl0_rate=0
wl0_closed=0
wl0_macmode=disabled
wl0_wme_ap_vo=3 7 1 3264 1504 off
wl0_radioids=BCM2050
wl0_phytype=g
wl0_lazywds=0
wl0_afterburner=auto
wl0_antdiv=-1
wl0_wpa_psk=xxxx
wl0_mac_list=
wl0_unit=0
wl0_net_reauth=36000
wl0_wds=
wl0_wme=off
wl0_mac_deny=
wl0_radius_port=1812
wl0_auth=0
wl0_radius_ipaddr=
wl0_wme_sta_vi=7 15 2 6016 3008 off
wl0_wme_sta_vo=3 7 2 3264 1504 off
wl0_maxassoc=128
wl0_phytypes=g
wl0_frag=2346
wl0_wep=disabled
wl0_country=Worldwide
wl0_rateset=default
wl0_wep_bit=64
wl0_afterburner_override=-1
wl0_passphrase=
wl0_rts=2347
wl0_wpa_gtk_rekey=3600
wl0_key=1
wl0_active_mac=
wl0_radio=1
wl0_bcn=100
wl0_hwaddr=00:0F:66:C7:73:00
wl0_wep_gen=
wl0_gmode_protection=1
wl0_maclist=
wl0_radius_key=
wl0_wme_ap_be=15 63 3 0 0 off
wl0_corerev=7
wl0_channel=0
wl0_wds_timeout=1
wl0_wme_ap_bk=15 1023 7 0 0 off
wl0_auth_mode=none
wl0_crypto=tkip+aes
wl0_ap_ip=

So it is set to access point mode.

iwconfig config however shows

Code:
eth1      IEEE 802.11-DS  ESSID:"xxxx"
          Mode:Ad-Hoc  Frequency:2.412 GHz  Cell: Not-Associated
          Tx-Power:19 dBm
          RTS thr:2347 B   Fragment thr:2346 B
          Encryption key:off
          Link Noise level:-99 dBm
          Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:19144  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

Actually any computer trying to connect only detects a "peer" not an accesspoint. So iwconfig seems to be what is right. Why? How do I make it work again as an AP? (I have set the mode to "Access Point" in "Network/Wireless", however it doesn't seem to care about that setting)

This is X-Wrt r2676 on Openwrt 0.9 on a Linksys Wrt54gs v1.
Any ideas?

Regards,
Marc

Thx for your reply. Well this gives me:

Code:
root@OpenWrt:/$ nvram set wl0_infra=0
root@OpenWrt:/$ nvram commit
root@OpenWrt:/$ wifi
wifi: can't load library 'libiw.so.28'

These are some relevant packages that are installed on my router

wificonf - 6
wireless-tools - 29.pre10-1
iwlib - 29.pre10-1

So: iwlib.so.29 was there but iwlib.so.28 was not.
I do not know where the package/dependency problems come from but one symlink from so.28 -> so.29 in /usr/lib solved the issue. So the "wifi" command works again, and as a consequence so does the rest.

At some time I believe I did that, yeah.
Why? Was that not a good idea?

do it isn't a good idea, It normally breaks routers and at the very least it will take up most of your remaining open free space. It is also likely what caused your problem
